Cycling on rollers with “Tous Ensemble”

Cycling on rollers with “Tous Ensemble” in memory of our patients Lieven Cnudde and Peter Devos.

The "Tous Ensemble" 24-Hour Indoor Cycling event was inspired by Lieven Cnudde.

For the third year in a row, the team organized the “24-Hour Cycling on Rollers” event at the VTI in Deinze during the first weekend of December. However, this was a special edition because the driving force behind the project, Lieven Cnudde, lost his battle with colon cancer last year. Natacha, his wife, kept the tradition alive together with Team “Tous Ensemble.”

Most of the proceeds go to Kom op tegen Kanker. This year, a portion was also donated to AZ Delta’s exercise program “En terecht.”

The exercise program “En terecht” is based on the vision of the late Peter Devos, a physical therapist and trainer for soccer teams, including KFC Izegem. Peter placed great importance on exercise. This is a perspective that we, as a team, can only wholeheartedly endorse. That’s how two worlds came together, and together with Peter’s partner and children, we developed the exercise program “En terecht.”

Peter's family organized a benefit event last year. Lieven Cnudde, who used to play soccer with Peter, took the field with them. All proceeds from the benefit were donated in full to the "En terecht" project.

At the 24-Hour Cycling on Rollers event, Natacha and Sofie, the wives of the participants, presented a check to our delegation. With these proceeds, starting in March 2026, we will be able to offer the exercise program to every patient beginning treatment in the digestive oncology department at AZ Delta. This program consists of a combination of endurance training and strength training.

As Peter Devos would say: "And rightly so—people should keep moving when they start chemo or another treatment."

It’s also “only fitting” that we’ll be back next year for the 24-Hour Cycling on Rollers event. Any colleagues who’d like to participate are welcome to join us.
